Thrift store shopping: Jeans

For the last couple of thrift store shopping trips, I've picked up nothing but jeans. I've been finding a lot of cute jeans lately from the thrift stores and all under $5. I went into this hospital auxillary thrift store and they had a pair of FCUK skinny jeans for $3! Of course, they didn't fit. I still should have bought them and sold them on Ebay, lol. Here are a couple more that I found:

Top: Refuge jeans $4.99, Goodwill. I'm so happy these jeans fit so well-waist, hips, and length (you know I have issues with length). They are actually darker in real life.

Bottom: Route 66 jeans $3.99. I never bought a pair of jeans from KMart in my life. It was something about the styles of KMart jeans that turned me off. I saw this pair and liked the wash of them. They fit very well-length, hips, waist. Then I turned around and looked at my butt. The pockets are so far apart that they made my ass look bigger than it already is. Boo. Maybe I'll hide the pockets with a tunic length top. Hmmm.

Weekend finds: The start of "tax-free" week and my favorite thrift store

Me and Mr. Cheap Chica started our day off early yesterday. Waking up at 7:30 am, our intentions were to cruise around for some garage sales. Of course, the rain put a damper on our plans, but that didn't stop us from going to the mall. Big mistake. You see folks, yesterday was the start of the "tax-free" week here in Florida. I love it, but I also hate it, because people loose their damn minds when this week comes. People act worse around this time than they do the day after Christmas. Our first stop was in JC Penney. Mind you, it was a little after 10 when we got there and the lines were outrageous. There were so many deals I had to pass up because the place was so crowded and everyone had the sale racks surrounded. I found a Miss Bisou tank for $2.97. I paid for and left without trying it on. I prayed that it would fit because it's a very cute top. It did. We didn't stop anywhere else in the mall other than Charlotte Russe. They had a clearance sale on their shoes for $6.99. I grabbed this pair:




Later on in the day, I decided to go to my favorite thrift store. I love the store and all of the wonderful deals that I find there, but they really need to get new employees- so unfriendly and rude. Anyway, I ended up buying three things out of there, for a grand total of $5.97. Sweet!

Banana Republic boot-cut jeans $2.00. Since the thrift store doesn't have fitting rooms, I pretty much had to take a chance on them. They fit. Hallelujah!

Old Navy trouser jeans $3.00. They fit everywhere but the length, so I let the hem out of them. Sometimes I hate being tall.


Dress $1.00. Now I usually don't wear dresses, but there's something about this one that I couldn't pass up. Maybe it was the color. Peach tones and corals look good against my skin. It looks really cute on. I think I'll throw on a belt at the waist, though. How would you wear this dress (if it's your cup of tea)? Holla!

Weekend finds: Old Navy and "The Rich Folks Goodwill"

I decided to take a trip to the somewhat new Old Navy store in the neighboring town of Estero since I had a gift card and a 10% off coupon. For some reason, Chicaville's Old Navy didn't really have anything- either the stuff that I've seen online wasn't at the store or the store didn't have my size. I'm glad that I took a trip over to this new Old Navy. Here's what I found:


These purses were $0.97 each! They had other styles that were also $0.97, but I don't need anymore. I didn't need these, but oh well, I like them.


Shoes, shoes, shoes. The sequined wedges on the left were also $0.97. The madra wedges were $6.99 each. I've always loved those plaid wedges, and I'm glad that I waited until they went on sale.


During the summer, these are all I wear- tanks. It gets so hot down here in Florida, so why not snatch up an extra one for $4.50.


Moving along, I decided to check out the local Goodwill. The Goodwill was located in the "rich" part of town, and they referred to this Goodwill as a "boutique", not a thrift store. When I got there, I was kind of disappointed. I mean, they had some really nice stuff, but the "boutique" was dimly lit, so you couldn't really see what the hell you were looking at. The "boutique" was also small-very small. I couldn't even turn around in there and I know I didn't gain THAT much weight. Everything was just crammed in there. I'm surprised I found this belt in there(yes, another cinch belt), and at $2.99, it just happened to be the cheapest thing in the "boutique".




Needless to say, I don't think I would be going back there again. I thought all the other Goodwills were getting expensive, but this "boutique" topped it. I saw a pair of USED Gap jeans for $19.99. I might as well buy a brand new pair for fifteen more dollars. Oh well, the "rich folks Goodwill" just isn't for me.

Homemade Beauty: Oil control cream

I really hate my oily skin. I control the oil each day by using Clearasil Oil control Cleansing wipes (these rock!), but they are like $7 a pack. Well here's a cheaper way to control the oil so breakouts won't occur.

What you need:

1. Oatmeal
2. Egg white

What to do:

Mix ingredients together to create a creamy paste. Apply to face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with cool water. Do this as often as needed.

MY Under $5 find

Cropped sweater vest. I bought this at my local Old Navy for $1.97 (sweet). It's $9.99 on the website. Still not a bad price.


I stopped into Old Navy this evening and saw that they still had their $1.97 rack. Everything was pretty much picked over and what they had left were mostly these cropped sweater vests in a bunch of different colors and a bunch of kids items. I like this vest, and hey, if I don't get to wear it, I just paid $2 for it, no big deal.

Everyday I'm hustlin'

I'm always looking for ways to make extra money. I'll be moving to Orlando pretty soon, so I'll have to save and not shop so much (nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!). Here are things that I do to make extra money:

1. Sell my unwanted stuff on Ebay. This also frees up some clutter so I won't have that much to pack when it's time to move.
2. Run errands for Granny (she offers gas money, I take it, lol.)
3. Type up documents (resumes, contracts, etc.) for people who just don't have the time or typing skills to do it themselves, but are willing to pay me.
4. Put my DIY skills to use, mostly decorating flip flops. Not only am I'm making money, but I enjoy making things.

Now, if I could save some of this extra money and not shop so much, I'd be rich, lol. What do you guys do for extra money? Holla!

Have you guys looked in today's JC Penney's ad? Well, they are having a green tag final clearance sale. They have clearance as low as $1.97. Just look for the different price points around the store. I found these Miss Bisou jeans* for $4.97...


*These are not the same exact jeans that I purchase today, but they are really similar.

My JC Penneys didn't really have a lot of stuff left over. They had a lot of cute cropped military jackets for $4.97, but I know they wouldn't fit my huge massive arms, so I didn't buy one. Sigh. I think this sale lasts until this weekend or until all of the merchandise is gone, so I'll have more time to look at a different Penneys tomorrow, lol.

What I'm reading now: "How Not to Look Fat" by Danica Lo

Let's face it, whether you're skinny or chubby, we all have our "fat" days. Hell, I have one everyday, but I'm too damn lazy to go on a diet. Well, with this book, you don't need to diet. I just received this book yesterday in the mail, and just like McDonald's, I'm lovin' it. Even though I'm only on Chapter 10 (I read pretty fast, plus this book is so far an excellent read), I learned about the different necklines that flatter certain figures and which ones don't, and I also learned which style shoes have a "slimming" effect-like the D'Orsay pump. The book also covers which hairstyles do wonders for your physical proportions as well as how to "smell" thinner. Yep, smell thinner. Can't wait until I get to that chapter. At the rate that I'm going, I'll be done with this book before the weekend because it's very interesting. DIY Project: Bermuda shorts

I purchased a pair of Old Navy jeans from my local thrift store today. I had a feeling they were going to be too short for me, but I went ahead and bought them anyway. It sucks that my favorite thrift store doesn't have fitting rooms, so I have to take a chance on buying things, but my instincts were right, the jeans were too short. It's all good. I used Sale Rack Raider's tutorial and made them into bermudas. I'm happy with the results.

Hey chicas, I'm back. Due to the extensive problems with my computer, I had to go into my stash and purchase a new one. I didn't want to do it, but I had to because the old computer just couldn't be saved. Oh well, enough of that. On to our regularly scheduled program...

I have a crappy computer

I would like to take the time out to thank everyone for reading "The Cheap Chica". Due to a very, very crappy computer, I will not be posting as often as I do.
