Weekend finds: Yellow wedge sandals

Didn't really go anywhere this weekend other than Sally's Beauty Supply where I bought some more hair products. I'm trying to get my hair in good shape, because up until last year, I didn't really do much to my hair other than tie it back in a ponytail and wear braids. Well, I stopped the ponytail thing this week because my hair was breaking off at the hairline. I purchased some ORS Fertilizing Temple Balm to help get my thinning edges back in shape. That stuff is like $13 for a 2 oz. jar, so I hope it works. Anyway, like I said, I didn't really go anywhere. I did a little online shopping on GoJane.com and purchased these cute yellow wedges. I'm supposed to be on a mini shopping ban, but you know me, shopping bans just don't work.

How to clean canvas shoes

I just received my new white canvas wedges from Target in the mail today. Canvas shoes, light colored ones especially, can be a pain in the butt to keep clean. I found something in "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Household Solutions" that should work:

To keep canvas shoes looking new, apply a light coating of spray starch before wearing. The starch will give them a protective coating that helps them stay clean longer.
Unlike canvas sneakers that you could throw in the washing machine and clean, canvas wedges/sandals can be cleaned by hand using a mixture of 1 1/2 cups of baking soda and 4 cups of water. Scrub the mixture onto the shoes using a small brush or an old toothbrush. Let stand for ten minutes then rinse. Repeat if the shoes are really dirty. Let them air dry.

Weekend finds: Finally a pair of skinny jeans that fit me

Ultra low rise skinny jeans $24.50, Old Navy

I found myself at Old Navy yesterday to check out the sale on clearance that Uber Style informed me of . She found a pair of black skinny jeans for $1.97! Talk about a bargain. Thanks for the heads up! I found a pair of dark denim skinny jeans (similar to the pic featured to the left) for $8.99, and guess what, they fit great. I was always under the impression that they only look good on skinny girls. The different brands that I've tried on didn't look good on me at all, so I just stayed away from skinny jeans (except for the Mossimo cropped skinny jeans that I have, those fit great). The pair that I bought yesterday are great. They have a little bit of stretch to them and they flatter my figure (I'll post pics up later). I'm happy with them.

P.S. to the reader I chatted with the other night (Honee B?), maybe you could try your luck at Old Navy with the skinnies.

Cheap Chica beauty: Jergens shea lotion

This is the worst time of the year for my skin. It gets so dry and flaky. I bought this lotion this week and I'm hooked. Not only does it keep my skin hydrated all day long, it smells really good, and leaves my skin oh so soft. I normally don't pay over five bucks for a bottle of lotion, but for this one, I'm making an exception, lol. This is my new favorite.
