I told y'all this shoe was the "knockoff of the year"

Tory Burch is having quite the moment. Her rich yummy mumsy line, a preppy-boho assortment of graphic tunics, caftans and bejewelled shirt-dress classics, made a splash on the New York runways last week.
But it is her little ballerina flats, emblazoned with her baroque "double T for Tory" golden crest, that have exploded. Both the real thing (Holt Renfrew has a waiting list for the $225 flats) and the fake. The flat is the knockoff of the year, overrunning Canal Street in Manhattan and right here at home for $29.99 at Payless.
The New York Times has been following the increasingly bold knockoff market south of the border and Burch was named as one of the big hits. She filed an injunction against the copycats, but is on record as not being bothered by the imitations out there. "There will always be women who want the real thing," she said.

Weekend finds: Old Navy and Forever 21

Since I've forgot to buy batteries to put in my camera, today's pics are brought to you from the websites that I've purchased the items from. My husband and I went to the Old Navy at the Coconut Point Mall today. I love this Old Navy better than my local one because they always get the newer stuff first. I found the kimono dress I've been wanting all summer in my size and in red. I liked the black one as well, but I have far too many black dresses already.

  • sleeveless ruffle top $5 (sale). This particular Old Navy was having a $5 sale on their sleeveless tops, so I don't know if all of the Old Navys are having the sale as well (check your local store). I'm thinking about wearing this top with my dark denim wide leg jeans, but what shoes should I wear? Help me out, folks. I love the mustard yellow color.

  • red kimono dress $10.99 (clearance). I think this color is no longer available online, but they have other colors.

I also bought a basic white 3/4 sleeve top for $5.99.

Onward to Naples, we went to the Coastland Center Mall. I haven't been there in five years and they really changed it a lot. They opened a Forever 21 there and you know I had to stop in. I bought a necklace (below) and a clearance belt for $2.99.

hummingbird necklace $5.80. This is a really cute necklace in person. The bird is kind of big- that I like, because I like my jewelry to stand out, lol.

I want that!: India Arie's earrings

I'm a sucker for earrings. The bigger the better. I especially love this pair that India Arie has on. Here's a pair from Out of Hand Boutique that are budget friendly.

Cute white button down under $10

I think a white button down shirt is a must have in every woman's wardrobe. It can be dressed up or down, and with a few cute accessories, the shirt gets taken to a whole 'notha level. I have three white button downs that I wear all the time- a short, 3/4 length, and long sleeves. I love this shirt from Old Navy. With the puff sleeves, it's a trendy spin on the classic button down. And for $10? How can I pass this up?

My cheapalicious hair products

I've just started taking better care of my hair earlier this year. Thanks to sites such as Healthy Textures, Black Hair Media's discussion boards, and Divine Tresses, my hair is in its best shape ever. When I first started my quest for healthier hair, I've tried out a lot of different products, to see what my hair likes and what it doesn't like, thus the over abundance in my closet. But now, I only have a few products that I use religiously and they don't cost a lot either. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter how much a product costs, as long as it's good for your hair and you and your hair love it. What works for others may not work for you and vice versa. Here are my top 5:
  1. Suave Humectant Conditioner, about $2.50 : I use this strictly for my co-washes (conditioner wash). It adds that much needed moisture to my hair and leaves it so soft.

  2. Organic Root Stimulator Replenishing Pak, about $1.29 : This is by far my favorite deep conditioner. After I do my shampoo, I follow up with this. I just slather it on, cover with a plastic cap for about an hour and then rinse it out. Leaves my hair oh so soft. I like the citrus-y smell of it, too.

  3. Suave Clarifying Shampoo, about $1.50 : Another Suave product, lol. I use this about once a month to remove all the product build up from my hair. I make sure to follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.

  4. ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion, about $5 : This is my favorite moisturizing lotion. A lot of people I know don't like it because they say it's too greasy and it weighs their hair down, but this is the only hair lotion that keeps my hair hydrated.

  5. Alberto V05 Straightening Gel, about $3 : I've tried a lot of heat protectant flat ironing creams/serums and this one is so far the only one that keeps my hair straight through the humidity in this Florida weather. I like it.

Weekend finds: Labor Day shopping

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Labor Day yesterday. Mine was okay. My husband and I did a little shopping and went and hung out at my grandma's. We went into Sears, because he needed new tools. I checked out the sales in apparel. There was an additional 75% off taken off of the clearance, so I found a couple of things:

  • wrap dress $3.75 (original $14.99). I'll do a "what I wore" post later.
That way you can see how this dress looks a little better.
  • top $3.25 (original $12.99).

I found a couple of items in Wet Seal, too:

  • necklace $3.99. I love the color. I bought a brown one, too.
  • trapeze top $5
