Prom dresses under $100

Although prom is a few short months away, now is the time to start shopping around for a dress. A lot of my teen Cheap Chicas out there really don't have a lot of money to spend on a gown, and why should you spend a lot on a gown that you're going to wear for one night anyway? Here are some dresses I've found for under $100. Hell, some are even under $20! Throw on some fab jewelry and a cute clutch, you'll be the belle of the ball. You could also try your local thrift stores, consignment shops, and bridal outlets. Or, if you know someone who sews, just grab the material and pattern and have them make it.

Star style: Mary J. Blige's thigh high boots

Cheap Chica reader Kammy wanted to know where she could find some over the knee boots similar to Mary J. Blige's in this pic. At one point, I didn't really care for them- at least not on me . For some reason, it conjured up images of the "ladies of the evening" that you see strolling along the boulevard on any given night. But, over the knee boots have grown on me. I love them worn with a pair of skinnies with a cute tunic sweater, or a cute mini dress or skirt. Hey Chicas! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Did you get what you want? Did you get anything at all? All I got was money and a Kay Jewelers gift card that I'm not even going to use. I got my Christmas money this weekend, so I bought myself a few things from Dots with it yesterday.

Weekend finds: A new Goodwill has opened...

I checked out the grand opening of the new Goodwill here in Ft. Myers, and man, was that sucka packed. I ended up leaving about a half hour after I got there because my back started hurting to the point where I could hardly stand up straight (I have a bad back), so I just bought these two purses and a pair of plaid trousers that ended up being too small. I'm definitely checking out this new Goodwill again.

Lunchbreak shopping: $3 tops

In this past Friday's lunchbreak shopping hour, I drove over to the new Steve and Barry's that was supposed to have opened a couple of weeks ago. It still isn't open despite the fact that they keep advertising for it's grand opening. Whatever. The mall is right next door, so I ended up going to JC Penney and Rave where I found some tops for $3 on their sale racks.

The mustard colored glittery tank looks really cute on. With the right accessories, it would be a cute top to wear on New Year's Eve.
