My 2009 resolutions

Some of my resolutions for this new year...
  • Learn how to sew. I'm going to get serious about it this time. I really want to learn, but I never seem to have the time. Well, I'm going to make time, and I've heard learning how to sew is pretty simple. I've checked out this book from the library called New Complete Guide to Sewing, and I haven't even cracked it open yetrolleyes. I guess I should start reading, huh?
  • Shop my closet more. I need to stop being lazy and dig deep into the closet and start putting together some new outfits with pieces that I'm bored with or are pushed way in the back of my closet. Here's a great video that I found on shopping your closet and putting together outfits with a few simple pieces.
  • Deal or no deal. This year, I'm going to think long and hard (okay, not really that hard) about something before I purchase it, especially bargain finds. Don't get me wrong, bargains are always good, but you have to ask yourself a few questions before you buy. Do I need it? Will it go with a lot of items in my closet? How often would I wear it? A deal isn't a deal if it's just going to sit in the closet.
  • Continue brown bagging it. I'll admit, there are some days where I just want to go to the nearest fast food joint and grab a quick lunch, but lately, I've been resisting the urge. For me, eating out everyday for lunch has gotten really old (not to mention expensive), so I'm bringing my lunch from home. Besides, homemade is better and a lot cheaper anyway. One time out of the week wouldn't hurt, but everyday? I don't think I'm going back down that road. I have too many unwanted pounds to show for it, lol.
What are your resolutions for this year?

Great resolutions for 2009! BTW, when you start to sew, make pieces that work w/ what you have in your closet and build from there. This was a lesson that I needed to learn. I also like the idea of shopping from your closet. Another great post, Cheap Chica!

2 of my goals that jump off yours:

*buy only what you love! a wise mantra for bargain queens.

*definitely shop my fridge ! like your closet, i end up not using everything in there. i am trying to minimize waste and the waist, and brownbagging is a big solution to that!

*try to save time, money, and calories when and where i can!

LOVE YOUR IDEAS, ALWAYS!

I completely agree with your deal or no deal resolution. So often I find myself buying stuff that I like in the store (but really I think it is the amazing deal I am getting that is blinding me) but when I get it home it sits in my closet :( I waste too much money that way. This also makes me agree with shopping my closet. I think that maybe I should try on/give a new twist to some of the things that have been sitting there forever.

I agree with deal or no deal and shop my closet. Sometimes I'm more willing to buy something I don't love when it's on sale. Now I'll think more about my purchases before buying on impulse. And I have tons of clothing & accessories in my closet so the possibilities are endless if I get creative. Great tips & resolutions!
