Suavenomics: Taking the Suave challenge pt.1

In these tough economic times, people are looking for ways to save a buck or two. I myself, have cut back a lot, especially on personal care products. One inexpensive brand that I use for personal care is Suave. I've been using Suave for years- since I was a teenager. Whenever mom and I took a trip to the store to grab personal items- lotion, deordorant, shampoo, etc.- it was Suave. Why? Because it's inexpensive and Momma Chica wasn't playing about buying that expensive stuff, lol. Now, there are some products from them that I don't really care for, but overall, the products are good. Some of the products, like their body washes and hair products, are comparable to leading brand name products. How does Suave measure up to their more expensive counterparts? I'll share some of my experiences with you in a four part series. This first review is on Suave Naturals body wash.

How Suave measures up: Compared to the Bath and Body Works shower gel, Suave is about the same. The scent is the same. The consistency is about the same (Bath and Body Works is slightly thicker), and it has a rich lather. It leaves my skin soft and the scent lasts a while. Obviously, it's cheaper and you get 2oz. more. I like it.

My verdict: If you love Bath and Body Works' shower gels, then you'll love the Suave Naturals body washes. It does the same job, so why pay about $11 for a bottle of shower gel when you can get it for about $3 at most drugstores and grocery stores?

BTW, has anyone received their free coupon from Suave yet? Stay tuned for parts 2a and 2b where I compare Suave Humectant shampoo and conditioner to Nexxus Therappe shampoo and Humectress conditioner.

Thanks, Nancy! ☺

Hi! I know this series will be about suave but have you tried St Ives beauty products?
Recently I baught a very cheap body wash from them but I haven't used it. I did use their body wash for acne though (with tea tree oil- only cost me $4 for a big bottle) and was happy with it.:)
Just wondering if anyone else thinks St Ives is a good budget friendly brand?

Thanks for the comparisons! I didn't know that Suave had a humectant as well. Will definitely have to check that out! I buy the body washes all the time. I LOVE when they are on sale and I get to use the great coupons that they always have out.

I adore Suave...especially the Tropical Coconut shampoo, body wash and conditioner. If you wanna get even cheaper..the shampoos are usually cheaper than the body washes, but can be used as body wash. I also love the Cocoa butter body wash.

Okay CC, you peeked my interest about the Suave humecto version. CVS has Suave on sale this week. Pair that w/ the Suave q's that are floating around and you've got yourself a sweet little deal. And, btw, spend $6.00 on Suave products, you get $2 back in CVS bucks! Thought that I would share that w/ you. Can't wait for your review!
