Cheap Chica's Topic Tuesday: Did you keep your "no-spend" promise?

One of my New Year's resolutions for this year was to shop my closet more and try not to spend any money on new clothes. Hey, I'm human, and everyone knows that new year's resolutions are hard to keep. So far this year, I've spent about $300 on new clothes, shoes, and accessories. I've been doing good with shopping my closet, but when I see a deal that's too good to pass up, I get it. Shame on me. I've got to do better. What about you? Have broke your "no spend/ spend less promise"? Discuss.

I've cut down on beauty treatments. I've been doing my own eyebrows, haven't been getting my haircut as much, not getting my nails done professionally... it's hard! But I think I've been spending a lot more money on beauty products for home!

I definitely spend less. I can't do my own eyebrows, but instead of bi-weekly I stretch it out to every 3 or 4 weeks. I don't buy clothes as much, I'm challenging myself to wear what I have, and rediscover the stuff already in my closets, and drawers. When I do shop, I'm still on my coupon and clearance thing. LOL

No, I'm quite the opposite...I need to spend more. I don't mean go overboard, but I feel guilty if a buy a $10 shirt on sale at Old Navy... I feel that's money that could be saved or put towards slashing my debt.

I'm always shopping my closet...

Girl, what promise!! Shopping is my stress reliever! If I give that up, I'd have to take up some other vice like overeating just to cope! LOL

This concept dovetails a current Marie Claire article giving the highlights of Nina Garcia's new style book....

I've been "shopping my closet" by putting together outfits the night before. Duh..... makes my mornings run more smoothly (you know the early a.m. panic .... where ARE those certain black shoes?????) !!!!!

Thanks for the wonderful inspiration and reminder to do this . You are THE Cheap Chica!!!

I try to hop my closet than I see something I think I can wear that for my engagement photos/wedding luncheon/ wedding (shoes) and have a hard time resisting. My biggest splurge is magazines which I try and get my fix online or from the library. but it doesn't always happen.
I'm with the spending $10 on the old navy shirt lady. I have a hard time spending a lot of money on clothes. I buy most of mine second hand or resale.
BUT I have only bought stuff I love and can work into what I already have. Except my wedding dress.
