The best top coat $2 can buy

You know how the old saying goes, "if it's good, it ain't cheap, and if it's cheap, it ain't good". Well, that saying doesn't ring true for everything. As you know, I don't spend a lot of money on nail polish. I love to experiment with trendy colors, so I don't spend a lot on them. The most I've ever spent on a bottle of nail polish was about $6. Yeah, I'm cheap. I soon realized that the cheap brands of topcoat I was using just didn't keep my manicures fresh. After about a day or so, my polish was chipping off really bad. Not a good look. Then, I decided to try a more expensive, well known brand name topcoat. I figured the more it cost, the better staying power my nail color had, right? Well, my manicures went an extra day or so without chipping, but my nails weren't as shiny as I want them to be. Then I discovered Wet N Wild's Mega Last Quick Dry Ultra Gloss top coat. My search has ended. For a measly $2, this topcoat packs shine and my manicures last- chip free- for well over a week. This is now my go-to topcoat.

these are my nails as of today (9/23). I did them on Friday.

What brand of topcoat do you swear by?

I love good, cheap top coats! I have been using NYC Super Shiny Top Coat lately and I've gotta say, it's fabulous too. And it's 99 cents. lol! I almost like it more than my expensive Seche Vite, just because it's not as thick as SV, which makes it easier to apply. And it really makes the nails shiny and protects the polish underneath. For a buck, it's amazing. But I will definitely pick up that WnW top coat next...I'm sold after reading your review. :)

Do you type all day because I gave up painting ages ago because typing allllll day and nail polish don't go so well together. I also started cutting my nails short.

The last time my nails looked awesome was when I got acrylic tips and the plastic was white for the french manicure look because I didn't want to deal with chipping polish.

It was painful to remove and fairly expensive to get them done so I only did it twice but I felt more glam then than with any nail polish I ever had. Got fairly short ones because I didn't want claws I couldn't type with there either.

I'm also more concerned now about chemicals (for both the acrylic nail AND the regular polish) - another reason I leave my nails buffed with no polish.

I love zoya nail polish. It is fantastic. I have chipped free nails for like a week and a half. It is about $6, but so worth the money for chipped free nails.
