Suavenomics: Taking the Suave challenge pt.3

I'm very picky when it comes to body lotion. If it doesn't glide well on my skin or if the consistency is very runny, I'm not using it. I've been using Jergens for years and when they came out with the Shea Butter lotion, that was it- no more other brand can do the job when it comes to moisturization (is that even a word?). I buy St. Ives from time to time and they're pretty decent, but the Jergens Shea Butter is my one and only. For the past couple of weeks, I've been putting Suave Advanced Therapy lotion to the test to see if it could moisturize as well, if not better, than my beloved Jergens.

The Test: The consistency is a little thin, but that's okay. It glided well on my skin and didn't feel greasy. I love that it has a fresh clean smell that lasted all day long on my skin. It kept my skin moisturized all day and relieved my dry skin. I liked it. Now, it states that it's "moisturizing relief for severely dry skin". My husband's skin is very dry and he didn't like this lotion. It just didn't do its job for him. I guess it worked better for me because my skin isn't severely dry. I would buy it again- the price is right ($3- $3.50 for 18 oz bottle vs. Jergens about $7- $7.50 for a 21 oz bottle) and it does a good job. Do you use any of Suave's lotions?

Lunchbreak shopping: Old Navy

The last time I went to Old Navy, it was probably two months ago. They still had their winter gear in, nothing interesting, just blah stuff. But then, I read Budget Babe's post about her recent trip to ON and I had to take a peek at all of the cute new spring pieces they had in. I love it when spring/summer items hit the stores. All the fun, colorful tops and dresses, I couldn't decide what I wanted. And then, I saw this yellow floral chiffon top. I had to have it. I can work it with a pair of skinnies and ballet flats or a pair of capris with a pair of flat sandals. Perfect top for spring- so flowy. The red top is something I grabbed because I liked the little puff sleeves on it, plus I don't really have any red short sleeve tops. Armed with my 40% off coupon and my Old Navy gift card, the only thing I had to pay was $0.33 out of pocket. Sweet!

Here is a first look at Christian Siriano's line for Payless as reported by Clutch Magazine. Mr. Fierce will be debuting his line in stores this fall and prices will range from $25-$45. I really like the third shoe at the top and I could see myself buying that pair. Those are haute! What do you think of this shoe collection for Payless? Would you buy them?

Cheap and cheaper

Seven7 jeans are not 7 jeans

An observation while waiting in line behind a woman at Marshalls the other day:

Woman in line: *on the phone* "Girl, you wouldn't believe what I've found in Marshalls just now?" A pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans! $20 girl. I got a deal!

I wasn't trying to be nosy or anything (she was talking pretty loud), but the pair of jeans she had in her hand were not 7 For All Mankind. They were Seven7 brand jeans that could be found at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Sears, etc. Now there's nothing wrong with Seven7 jeans, I love them. I think the fit is great and they have some cute styles. But, don't confuse them with the 7's we've seen plastered on the behinds of many celebs and found in many high end boutiques. They are not the same, they are not affiliated with each other. I remember my fashionista aunt had on a pair of Seven7 jeans that I complimented her on. She told me they were 7FAM until I saw the Seven7 logo on the back of them. She swore up and down that they were from the same company. Ok, if you say so. Now, someone mentioned to me that they've seen 7FAM jeans at Stein Mart for about $100, so if you want to score a pair, check to see if your local store has them. Not necessarily in a Cheap Chica's budget, but hey, I guess it's better than paying $200+ for a pair of jeans.

That is all.

Suavenomics: Parts 2a and 2b. Nexxus shampoo and conditioner vs. Suave Humectant shampoo and conditioner

Nexxus Therappe vs Suave Humectant shampoo; Nexxus Humectress conditioner vs. Suave Humectant conditioner

Last Sunday was my wash day,so I took a break from my usual shampoo and conditioner to try out the Nexxus Therappe and Humectress this week. I will do a comparison with the Suave Humectant shampoo and conditioner to see how they measures up to the Nexxus products.

Nexxus Therappe shampoo $9.69* and Humectress conditioner $13.69* (13.5 oz)

The Test: I liked that both shampoo and conditioner were very rich and the shampoo lathered and cleansed really well. I also like the scent- they both had a yummy coconut smell that lasted a few days in my hair. They both left my hair very hydrated and soft, but they kind of weighed it down. After I blow dried my hair, it didn't have any movement like it usually does. I'm used to my hair swingin' and blowing in the wind, but all of this week, it did nothing.

my hair last week

Suave Humectant shampoo and Suave Humectant conditioner, both $2.69* (14.5 oz)

How does Suave measure up?: It says on its bottle that it "deeply moisturizes as well as Nexxus". First off, I want to say that I've been using the Suave Humectant conditioner for a couple of years now. I did a post sometime ago about my favorite cheap chicalicious hair products and it's on the list. I use it for co-washes to soften my new growth. Yesterday I washed and conditioned my hair with the Humectant shampoo and conditioner. I never used the shampoo before so this was my first time and it was pretty decent. Like the Nexxus products, the Suave left my hair very hydrated and soft, but guess what? My hair has movement and the Suave didn't weigh it down. I was happy with the results.

my hair today, after I blow dried and flat ironed. It feels much lighter. Got some swing action going on that I'm used to, lol.

In the end, I think I liked the Suave products better. The Humectant conditioner will always be a favorite of mine, but the shampoo is going to be a standby when I run out of my staple shampoo and is too lazy to go to the beauty supply store to get more, lol. Don't get me wrong, the Nexxus products were very good, they just weren't for me. Have you tried the Suave Humectant shampoo and conditioners? What did you think?

Work is kicking my ass!!!

Work is seriously kicking my bootay this week. My workplace just changed over to a new Windows-based software and we have to transfer everything out of the old system into the new, therefore, my work is getting stacked up and seriously behind, so I'll try to update as much as possible. Until everything is caught up (probably by next week), posts are going to be very sporadic. Hopefully, my brain isn't turned to mush by then confused.

Spotted at Tar-jay: "Navajo chic" sandals

"Tori" and "Trista" beaded thong sandals, both by Xhiliration $19.99

Hmm, I could've featured these in my Navajo Chic post.
At my trip to Target today, I browsed their shoe section to take a peek at the new spring arrivals. I simply cannot wait until spring comes because I want to get my hands on one of the two pairs of the above sandals. I love the colorful beading on both sandals and they would look really cute with my yellow maxi dress that I bought last summer. I actually took pics of the shoes at the store today with my phone, but then I realized that I didn't have a data cable to upload the pics rolleyes.
