Today's video clip: Popeye's franchise doesn't participate in $4.99 promo

I just have one question, is it that serious? I love me some Popeye's chicken, but if they're not participating in the promotion, I'm either going to order something else, or keep it moving. Why make a stink about it? Your thoughts?

Ring Shopping!

Hey Chicas!

I've had a hectic past couple of weeks, with vacation, a manuscript deadline, and work matters, but I'm settling back in. I hope all you fabulous readers are well. Of course I snuck in some time to shop. My latest accessory obsession is rings. I love big chunky ones, with interesting shapes. Here are a couple I purchased from Macys:

I found the black one first, and once I realized it was an additional 20% off with my Macy's card, I grabbed the pink one. The gold one was from Target, another clearance deal. I've been wanting flower rings since I first saw them on Lipstick Jungle.

While in Macy's I saw this pretty silver ring:

It was $95, totally not in my budget. But on a trip to Walmart, I remembered a friend telling me they had cute accessories. Low and behold, I found this ring for only $8.88!

Not exactly the same, but close enough! And at a fraction of the cost? Gotta love it.

So these are the latest additions to my ring collection. Until Big decided to give me an engagement ring, I'll be rocking these pretties on my ring fingers. LOL. In other jewelry news, I am craving a sweet charm bracelet, so I'm on the hunt!

Later Chicas!

Balmain-inspired... at Tar-jay!?

By now, we've all seen the infamous Balmain jacket that Ms. Beyonce was rocking a couple weeks ago. Oh, the price tag on that bad boy. Over $11,000. Ouch! I found a vest from Target's Go International collection that's kind of borrows its inspiration from Balmain (not dead on, but close), and a it's a lot easier on the pocketbook.

Go International bandleader vest $35

Freebies for all!!!

Today's video: "What are you guys talkin' about?" The Cube, that's what

Y'all remember Kelly from the viral video OMG! Shoes? Well she's back, and now she's trying to get her wardrobe right. After not being allowed into the high end stores to shop, she finds her way to The Cube- Marshall's boutique within the store where all of the latest brand labels are stashed- shoes, accessories, fashion- at amazing prices. I told you about The Cube that I visited in Bradenton a few months ago. Even though the racks were empty as hell when I went, I'm willing to see what they have in for the spring/summer. Enjoy this cute little video.

Have you been to The Cube lately?

Shecky's Girls' Night Out... I wanna go!

I never even heard of this event until I saw it posted on Budget Fab. If I'd known that Shecky's were coming to Miami next week, I would've planned for it, but it looks like I'm not going to make it. Phooey. What is Shecky's Girls Night Out you ask? It's an event where us cheap chicas, recessionistas, budget fashionistas, and frugalistas can go and "cure our recession depression". Scoring chic fashions at Cheap Chica-approved prices, sampling new products, sipping on complimentary cocktails all night long, and scoring freebies- sounds like fun to me. If this bad boy ever comes here to Chicaville, I. Am. So. There. Click here to see if Shecky's Girls Night Out is coming to your city, and watch below to see what it's all about.

I ♥ peacocks

I love peacocks. They're the most beautiful animals in the world. I remember about 7 or 8 years ago, I had the most beautiful peacock tank that I got from Wet Seal when I worked there. The colors were so vibrant and the image of the peacock was so beautiful. In some of the feathers, there were rhinestones on them. I got so many compliments on that shirt. Then one day, the shirt just up and disappeared. Talk about devastation, lol. I never found another peacock that I really liked to replace that one. Oh well. Nowadays, I'm wearing peacock in the form of accessories and I'm loving the cute jewelry poppin' up in some of my favorite stores. Here are some cute peacock pieces that I've found.

  1. tank $13.80, Forever 21. I like this top, but I wish they had it in a more vibrant color.
  2. gold cuff $6, Wet Seal
  3. hair clip $9, Lulu's

Caress me with burnt brown sugar and karite butter...

I bet y'all are wondering what in the hell is CC talkin' about, but that's what's in Caress' Evenly Gorgeous body wash. The smell is so heavenly, I couldn't keep the bottle away from my nose, lol. It's an exfoliating body wash, but to me, it doesn't exfoliate as well as what I'm used to. It does, however, makes my skin really, really soft, and did I mention that the smell is heavenly? I posted last week about the newly launched Caress Your Style website. Check it out for a chance to win a trip to NYC for Fashion Week or a $100 Caress gift card, and get fashion and beauty tips from Carson Kressley (of Queer Eye fame). You could've gotten a free sample of this awesome body wash while you were there, but unfortunately, they're out of samples. Darn. Check out other products from Caress' Skinwear Collection , and then go get yourself a bottle.

Cash, check, or charge?

Cheap chicalicious tip of the day: Survey says... you get a discount

Don't have time to take a survey? If it means saving you a few bucks on your next shopping trip to your favorite store, you'd make time, right? Stores such as JC Penney, Payless and Old Navy (ones I'm most familiar with), offer small discounts on your next purchase when you take their little surveys about your shopping experience with them. The surveys are usually attached to your receipts- or in some case at the bottom of it- and all you have to do is log on to the survey site provided or call a toll free number. Take a couple minutes of your time and they give you a coupon code at the end. Do you take the surveys to get a discount on your next purchase?

Your thoughts?

Recent purchase: Ready for sandal season

Ask any native Floridian, and they'll tell you that we live in sandals. All day long, all year round. There's no telling how many pairs I have in my closet now, lol. The Miss Trish of Capri lion sandals that I ordered last week arrived. They are really cute in person and I love them. They are a tad bit too big, but it's no big deal. If you decide to get these shoes, make sure you try on a half size smaller to see if it fits better than your regular size.

After I did my post on the knock-off Chanel floral jelly sandals, I decided I wanted a pair for the beach. I found a pair from Walmart for $7. I also bought these plaid sandals for $6.

Now, all I need to do is visit the nail salon for that much needed pedicure, and I'm good to go. Are you ready for sandal season?

Clearance Shopping at Target

So, I'm still getting out of my weather funk. But I found this trench coat at Target today that's going to make me feel a little better about the dreary rainshowers.

The fit is so nice, the bottom flairs out slightly. I tried it on today, with the brown cork heels I just bought last week, along with this clutch I snagged from Target last year..I think the look together is SO Carrie Bradshaw. The coat was 30% off. . . $27.98 from $34.99. I usually wait for 50% to 75% off, but in the true spirit of my Clearance Commandments, I knew my size wouldn't be there if I waited, plus I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow afternoon, and this will be perfect for strolling down the streets of NY with my very own Mr. Big. Gotta love it.

The Cheap Chica reads: All You Magazine

I have a few subscriptions to some major magazines- Glamour, Cosmo, Marie Claire, yada yada, but I think I need to add All You Magazine to the list. I didn't really pay attention to All You until earlier this year, and now I pick it up everytime I go to Wally World. All You is geared toward the value-driven consumer and it offers great affordable and pratical solutions for every area of life. One thing I really like about the magazine is that if has a LOT of coupons. This month's coupons have a total savings of over $51 (I've featured a few of them a couple of weeks ago) and the May issue has a total savings of over $89. Lots of savings indeed. Other articles of interest in the April issue:

  • Tips for making your clothes last longer
  • How to go green and save money at home
  • designer spring looks for bargain prices
  • Salon and spa experience recreated at home
  • The top swap sites and how to use them

All You can be found only at Walmart or by subscription. Do you read All You?

Be back in a few

Bear with us for a moment. The site is going to be shut down for a few. Hopefully, I get this new template squared away. See you soon... Oh, and Happy Easter!

Mark your calenders: Free cone day @ Ben and Jerry's

On April 21 from noon to 8 pm, head to local Ben and Jerry's ice cream shop and get a free scoop of your favorite ice cream (make sure your local store is participating in free cone day)! A word to the wise- make sure you arrive early, because I'm sure the line will be long. Y'all can thank Dwana for the tip!

More spring finds @ KMart

It's official. I ♥ Kmart now. Ever since I bought my floral skirt a few weeks ago, I've been scoring some really cute items from there. While I was out Sunday, I stopped in and found a couple of things- like this maxi dress and a striped tunic. I also found a purple patent clutch for $1.99, too. Maybe they finally got the hint that they needed to upgrade their apparel department, lol. Here are some items I've found on the website that I may add to my spring wardrobe.

  1. I love this coat. Perfect for a breezy spring day. Car coat $20 (on sale, reg. $40)
  2. Looks like Jaclyn Smith is stepping her game up on her collection. A lot of the pieces are really cute. I especially like this medallion top for work.
  3. Python is the go-to print in accessories for this season. It goes with just about anything, so you can update a whole lot of pieces you already have for less. I'm feeling these python flats from the Attention brand- only $19.
  4. I told you maxi dresses and maxi skirts were going to be my uniforms this spring. Looks like I'm going to add this to the collection, lol. Beaded strap maxi dress $40
  5. I love the vibrant colors in this skirt. Talk about adding a pop of color, this adds a lot. floral skirt $25

Missoni- inspired bikini on the cheap!

I found a cute Missoni bikini on Intermix's website, but I'll be damned if I spend over $400 for it. Shoot, that's one month's car payment and insurance! Thank goodness for Forever 21. I found this Missoni-inspired version for way, way less- under $30. Now we're talkin'. Check out some more cute swimwear here at F21.

First work, now searching for a house

Not only is work still kicking my butt, now the husband and I are buying our first home, so searching for a house is taking up a lot of our time as well. Posts will still be sporadic, from me at least, but Tira will be here to fill in the blanks. I never knew finding a home could be so hard. There's so many to choose from, but I want the right one. I don't want to invest my money in just any house. I want the perfect house. Hopefully, we find that perfect house by next month. I'm so excited.

50% off clearance @ Rue 21!

When I think of Rue 21, I think about teeny bopper, can't fit my twenty-something year old body apparel, but every now and then when I pop in with my teenage cousins, I always find something- for really cheap, too. They have the most awesome sales. The last time I went in there, which was around Oct/Nov, I found a lovely maxi dress for only $5! The lovely Budget Chic featured a dress she scored from there recently, so I may have to pop in there this weekend to check out this awesome sale.

Winter Blues in the Spring...

Hey Chicas!!

It's snowing in April, what part of the game is that? I didn't have much work to do today, and my mother is going to Arizona for a week long vacation, so I decided to hit up Gabriel Brothers with her today for some last minute shopping. For those of you who don't know, Gabriel Brothers (or Gabe's) is affiliated with Rugged Warehouse. They're both stores that sell deeply discounted items from various department stores. Here are my finds: BTW,excuse the quality of these pics. . .I used my Blackberry because my camera wasn't around

Heart/Bow Earrings $2.99

$4.99 I love the colors of this purse, I can see it with a full skirt in the summer time. The detail is lovely. According to the tag it was originally from Charlotte Russe.

I got 2 pairs of Anne Michelle shoes. I think these were my favorite purchases of the day.

The bottom pair looks lilac, but they're really gray. The brown were $6.99 and the gray were marked down to $7

I remember seeing this dress at Anne Taylor last summer. It was marked $24.99 but Gabe's marked all Anne Taylor $9.99 today.

I think the print of this skirt is crazy. The main reason I purchased it was because it matches a tank that I bought, as well as a necklace I have somewhere.

I'm on the full skirt bandwagon. I love the colors in this skirt. I'm picturing it with my bright yellow cardigan from Old Navy for starters.
