Anna Sui "Gossip Girl"-inspired collection for Target

As much as I love Target, I hardly ever post anything about their designer lines. A lot of them I didn't too much care for, and others that I liked, the clothes weren't cut for my body. The Cut has leaked these pics of Anna Sui's upcoming Gossip Girl inspired line for Target, and I must say I'm looking forward to it. The looks are inspired by characters Blair, Serena, Jenny, and Vanessa (I really like Vanessa's pieces). The collection will be available in select stores and online on from September 13 through October 17.

What do you think of the collection?

Found at Wally World: Kurt Cobain tote

For all you Nirvana fans...

Yesterday while on my grocery run at Walmart, I stumbled upon this tote in the men's clothing section. The tote is $12, and they had other ones like the Jonas Brothers cover and the Jimi Hendrix cover. You may want to check your local store because they are not available online.

Official! East Coast Chica

Hey ladies, I've been kind of quiet lately. If you remember, I got a new job, and I relocated to the East Coast. I can't wait until the craziness dies down, and I can begin blogging again. I haven't been doing too much shopping, but I do have a few things to blog about soon.

Are any of you ladies from the East Coast? I know it's an expensive place to live, but I'd like to know about your favorite stores, restaurants, and budget friendly summer adventures. Also, where can I find great vintage/thrift shopping in the NY/NJ area? Help me out, chicas!

Cheap chicalicious tip of the day: Cheap solution for breaking in sandals

My aunt told me about this trick. I will try it next time I break in some new sandals...

Wanna break in those new sandals, but have no blister block on hand? Just go into your medicine cabinet and pull out your jar of petroleum jelly. Coat your feet with the petroleum jelly where you think there's going to be friction. My aunt says she does this for the first three times she wears her sandals and she's good to go after that.

What are your tips for breaking in those new sandals?

Weekend finds: BOGO @ Payless and a Fabuless necklace!

Well, it's BOGO time again at Payless, and you know I had to peep the merchandise to see what I can add to my summer shoe wardrobe. I had my eyes on these "Purr" gladiator sandals and I'm happy that my local store carried them.

I didn't see another pair of shoes that I liked, so I got this beaded necklace instead. If you never paid attention to Payless's jewelry section, you better start. They have some pretty neat pieces.

After telling you guys about Fabuless.com, I decided to order the coin necklace that I featured in that post. I ordered the necklace on Thursday and my package arrived in the mail yesterday. Gold star for fast shipping! I will probably order from them again when they get more merchandise. Under $2 accessories? You can't beat that.

Well, Mr. Cheap Chica and I have finally found a house. We should be moving within the next few weeks or so, so expect even more sporadic posting. I'll keep you updated. Stay tuned...

Eat on the cheap: $5 off $25 @ Longhorn Steakhouse

Longhorn Steakhouse is one of my favorite places to go for a big, juicy ribeye. Yum! Just thinking about it is making me hungry, lol. Click on the image to the left to print out your coupon for $5 off your purchase of $25 or more. Offer expires 7-12-09.

Do you believe in Magix?

I just discovered an inexpensive makeup primer called Magix Face Perfector by Avon. Before, I was just using an oil-free moisturizer as my primer before I put on my foundation, but I really didn't like that method. I've heard that Monistat Chafing Relief powder-gel can be used as a primer, but I have yet to try that (has anyone tried this?). After reading great reviews about Magix, I decided to give it a try.

I haven't tried any of the more expensive brands to compare this to, but to me, it works pretty good. I have very oily skin and this controls the shine for hours. It's a very light formula. When I apply it to my face, it justs sinks into my skin and it feels like nothing's there. I haven't worn it under makeup yet. When worn alone, it makes my skin feel so smooth and my pores are less visible. It's a keeper for me. At $10, you can't go wrong. Have you tried Magix yet?

$5 swimwear and shorts @ Old Navy

First $1 flip flops, then $2 tanks, now $5 on select swimwear and shorts this coming Friday (6/26) and Saturday (6/27) at Old Navy! As always, get there early for the best selection. I wonder what's next on Old Navy's list of sales...
Question. How did you all make out this past weekend with the $2 tanks? Did you get what you want, or by the time you got there, everything was pretty much picked over?

Bringing the codes and printables a little earlier to you this week. Enjoy!

Brides renting gowns in these tough economic times

Something old, new, borrowed and blue – that is the wedding tradition - but this wedding season getting something new may be a struggle. According to industry research firm IBISWorld, spending on rented bridal gowns is expected to grow 7.5 percent to $43 million - up from $40 million in 2008.

With brides renting dresses, sales of new wedding gowns are expected to decrease 2.8 percent this year, reaching just $973 million. While the decline is not as steep as the 4.2 percent drop experienced in 2008, the industry has seen declines since 2001. Brides who do purchase a dress will more likely buy their garments in high-end department stores, formal clothing stores, or online – like
PreOwnedWedddingDress.com – opposed to a bridal store.
The one thing couples will not be renting this year is wedding planners. Compared to 2008, the amount spent on wedding planners is expected to drop 4.2 percent to $785 million. In fact, the average cost of a wedding is expected to drop eight percent in 2009 to just $20,000 – in 2007 the average was $30,000.
“The recession is expected to exacerbate the already declining marriage rate, as couples put off the ‘big day’ until the time is right financially,” explained Toon van Beeck, senior analyst with IBISWorld. “Spending will undoubtedly be impacted by such postponements, and these cost cutting measures will start from the purchase of an engagement ring, all the way to the end of the honeymoon.” [via IBISWorld]

In my opinion, I think it's okay, especially if you're on an extremely tight budget and don't want a dress hanging in your closet that you don't plan on ever wearing again. But, depending on the rental rate, you may find a brand new dress on sale for less than $150 at most bridal stores. What do you think about renting a wedding gown?

Hana Mini flat iron- most compact, travel friendly iron ever!

I've been looking for a mini flat iron for sometime now. Not because I have the constant need for it, but to have it just in case I'm taking a trip somewhere and don't feel like packing my regular flat iron or if I need to do a quick touchup on my hair for drinks with the girls after work. Thanks to the lovely Lisa over at It's A Glam Thing, I got to try out the Hana Mini.

I must say, I like this little guy- talk about compact. This is just what I was looking for- small enough to throw into my big suitcase of a purse, and it comes in this cute little metallic case.

The iron itself is only five inches long when collasped, but it extends to eight inches for styling.

Now as far as the straightening goes, it's pretty decent. Nothing compares to my Chi, but this one comes close. I used it with the Hana ShineShield serum, it left my hair very silky and not weighed down. The plates are made of tourmaline and and has a fixed temperature of 410 degrees.

I'm impressed with is iron. Like I said, it's very compact and you can just throw it in your purse, gym bag, suitcase, etc. and go. It really comes in handy when my hiar needs that quick touchup. You can purchase your own Hana Mini here or you can enter to win a Hana Pro over at It's A Glam Thing.
