Cheapalicious beauty: My Spring nail colors for under $3

Just a few spring-y nail polishes that I've picked up at recent drugstore trips. It's definitely time to give my vampy and dark nail polishes a break. All of these polishes shown are under $3

(l)- (r): Sinful Colors in Mint Apple $1.99, Walgreens; Wet n Wild Wild Shine nail color in Kaleidoscope $0.99, KMart; Sally Girl in Cloud Blue $0.99, Sally's Beauty Supply; Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Wet Cement $2.89, Walgreens; Wet n Wild Wild Shine nail color in Sunny Side Up $0.99, Kmart

Kaleidoscope layered over Cloud Blue

  • Sunny Side Up: I could not get the true color from this camera on the outside or the inside picture, but this is actually more of a orange creme color. I discovered this color when Nouveau Cheap did a review on it (she has a better pic of the color there), and I wanted it because it was a nice orange color- not bright neon like tons of other orange polishes that I own.
  • Kaleidoscope: I rarely do glitter on my nails, but this would fun to layer over a nice pastel color.
  • Wet Cement: This color is perfect for spring. I wore the darker grays all this fall/winter, so it's time to lighten up a bit with this nice neutral.
  • Mint Apple: Could this be a possible dupe for the popular Essie Mint Candy Apple? I fell in love with this color when I saw it in the store. I think it's a very pretty mint green, and I can see myself wearing this a lot this coming spring.
  • Cloud Blue: This was one of the polishes that I bought on my last trip to Sally's Beauty Supply. I love this blue, and I've been searching for this shade for a while now. I think I'm going to need three coats to get the desired opaqueness that I want (that's only two coats in the pic) because it's kind of streaky, and that's the only thing that I don't like about this polish.

Cheapalicious giveaway: Win a pair of Footzyrolls!

I was contacted by an agent representing Footzyrolls and they sent me a pair to review. For those of you who've never heard of Footzyrolls (don't worry, I never heard of them either until the rep contacted me. I've heard of Rollasoles, but those are only available in the UK.) they're ballet flats that, well, roll up to be able to fit in your purse. Footzyrolls are the "just in case" shoes- as in just in case your feet are screaming in those five inch heels after about an hour or so of wearing them and you need some relief. The soles are durable, skid and water resistant, and they provide the comfort and relief of a slipper (trust me, they are very comfortable!).

Sorry for the too dark pics. I was using the camera function on my husband's camcorder, and it doesn't have flash. I tried to lighten it up as much as I could.

Earn ECB's by joining the CVS Advisor Panel

If you're a frequent CVS shopper (such as myself), you're probably unaware of a market research program they offer called the CVS Advisor Panel. I didn't know about it until a co-worker of mine told me about how she's earned Extra Care Bucks through this program by simply taking online surveys that they send out from time to time. Since I shop at CVS all of the time, I think this will be a great way to save some money, so I joined the program. Hey, why not give your imput on the store's products and services for some CVS money?

The premise is simple- you sign up, they send you surveys throughout the year, and they credit your Extra Care account for participating. You can earn $5, $10, or $15 in Extra Care Bucks. Now, there are some surveys that you may not qualify for, but they still credit your account with $2 ECB. Something's better than nothing. I joined the program on Saturday, and I got my first survey today in which I've earned $5 in ECB's (the coupon was available for me to print instantly). My co-worker told me it took her about four months to receive her first survey, so I think it varies by each member how often they send surveys to you. I think it's a cool program, especially if you shop there often. Earning free money by sharing your opinion? I'm definitely in!

What I'm reading now: Closet Confidential

I received a copy of the book, Closet Confidential for review almost three months ago. I just got finished with this book the other day. Sorry for my tardiness. Don't get me wrong, the book is a good read, but having no time to sit down and read due to work, homelife, and the holidays, made it hard for me to finish the book in a timely manner. Better late than never, right? On with my brief review...

Brought to you by Winona Dimeo-Ediger (the blogger of Daddy Likey) , Closet Confidential: Style Secrets Learned the Hard Way is a must read for anyone who has stood in their closet for hours and hours (okay, maybe that's just me) trying to figure out what to wear. Unlike most fashion books that sugget that you "must have this" or "must have that" in your wardrobe, Ms. Winona offers advice for real women with real budgets to work with what you have already in your wardrobe and help defining one's personal style. The one thing I liked most about this book is the humor. I found myself giggling a little at some of her wardrobe faux pas and saying to myself "that has definitely happened to me." From building your denim wardrobe (her Maslow's Hierarchy of Jeans breaks it down for you) to creating that perfect outfit for "hosting a dinner party to celebrate your friend getting out of a codependent relationship", this book's gotcha' covered.

Closet Confidential is available for purchase at Sasquatch Books and Amazon.

Cybershopping: Love My Shoes (I really do!) and my "melting" Chanel- inspired earrings

I received my package in the mail Wednesday from Love My Shoes. I took advantage of their 50% off sale they were having a couple of weeks ago and orderd these lace up booties. This was my first time ordering from this company and I'm happy they were shipped to me in a timely manner (about five business days). I'm very pleased with my new shoes and I'm suprised at how comfortable they are.

Remember the "star style" post I did sometime ago about Solange Knowles' "melting" Chanel earrings? Since then, I was on the hunt to find a much cheaper pair than the ones they had at Hello Drama. I did a search on Etsy, and found a pair from CBTS Closet for $10 (it appears that they are sold out, but I'm sure they'll stock more in). They're not as big as Solange's, but they're big enough.

Weekend finds: 70-80% off @ MaxRave

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I would've enjoyed mine better if I didn't have to work this past Saturday, but it's all good. At least I got yesterday off razz. On Sunday, my husband and I took a little road trip to the next town over just to have something to do. We stopped in the mall to do a little bit of shopping, because you know those sales were in effect for the MLK Day holiday. Now, I usually don't shop at MaxRave, but when I saw that this store location was going out of business, I decided to take a look. Everything in the store was 70% and 80% off, so all of the stuff that I bought was under $6 each. Nothing special, just a few pieces for work and weekend wear. Here's what I got:

  • top $2.60 (reg. $12.99)
  • twill blazer $3 (reg $14.99)

  • paisley tank $2 (reg. $9.99). I will probably use this as a beach coverup or just lounge around in it
  • plaid skinny pants $3 (reg. $14.99)
  • zebra graphic tee $2.40 (reg. $8.00). I usually stay away from graphic tees, but I really liked this one for some strange reason.

  • ruffled top $2.60 (reg. $12.99). The ruffled detail really doesn't show up with this camera, nor does the true color. It's a really nice top in real life, and the color is very beautiful. I got a lot of compliments on it when I wore it to work today.
  • basic tees $1.80 each (reg. $6). A girl can never have too many basic tees, right?

  • skinny jeans $5.67 (reg. $18.90)
  • faux leather jacket $4.98 (reg. $24.90)
I also bought a pair of black stretch skinny pants for $5.40 (similar to the pair that Ms. GFS is wearing from the Miley Cyrus/ Max Azria line), and a pair of black skinny dress pants for $6.

Pardon me for being ignorant, but I didn't know that Max Azria bought Rave a few years ago, hence the name MaxRave (thanks for the info, Rai). No wonder a lot of that merchandise look like the Miley Cyrus line at Wally World. Hmm.

Okay, I think I'm done shopping for the year rolleyes.

First look at Zac Posen for Target

Fashionista.com has released the lookbook for Zac Posen's upcoming collection for Target. I'm liking what I see so far, like the gown pictured to the left ($69.99). I know none of my local Targets are going to carry the line, which hits stores on April 25th, so I'll just wait to order something online. What do you think of the collection?

Lunchbreak shopping: Clearance makeup @ CVS

I'm sure by now that all of you have made your way to CVS and shopped their semi annual makeup clearance. I went on my break yesterday to see what my local store had left. I think I did pretty well. I won't be makeup shopping for a while, that's for sure. They had some items marked down 50% off as well, but my eyes zeroed in on the 75% off green stickers. Here's what I got:

L'Oreal items

  • Colour Riche lipsticks in Coffee Bean (853) and Sable (847) $2.25 each
  • HIP Cream Shadow Paints in Steely (909), Witty (813), and Nervy (817) $2.99 each
  • HIP Shadow Duo in Lively $1.99 and Wear Infinite shadow in Golden Olive (325) $1.25

If you sign up for emails on L'Oreal's website, there's a coupon on there for $3 off any two products. I used the coupon on two of the Shadow Paints, so one of them ended up being free.

Milani items

Revlon and Rimmel lipsticks and glosses
