Designer way vs. Cheapalicious way

I believe every woman should have a nude colored pump in their wardrobe.  Not only does nude make a great neutral, but with the color blending into your skin tone, it makes the legs appear longer as well.  The classic Christian Louboutin Decollete 100 pumps may be the pair to invest in, but if you don't have the $600 right now to get a pair, the Mossimo "Virginia" pump makes a great alternative.  The Mossimo pumps are sold out online, so check your local store.

These Balmain camouflage skinny jeans will set you back a cool $1500 (ouch!).  Want the look, but not the price?  Forever 21 has an inexpensive alternative for under $25.

CVS Haul...L'Oreal Sale!!!

Hey guys, I know the week's almost over, but if you get a chance, head over to your local CVS, where all L'Oreal cosmetics are 5 bucks!!!! I happened to see it on another blog, and I pass a CVS daily en route to work. I snagged HIP shadows, I could have done more, but I'm exercising self-control. Check my shades:

Brazen

Flamboyant

In addition to my HIP shadows, I also purchased a box of Honey Nut Cheerios, Fiber One bars, and a box of Fiber One cereal...$1.99 each. Add in Johnson's baby oil gel, and a stick of deodorant, my order would have been around $40 bucks. But, of course I had a CVS Extra Care card AND a coupon for $4 off a $20 purchase, and I ended up spending $19. If your CVS has a self price checker machine, make sure that you scan your Extra Card whenever you stop in. I get the most awesome coupons. I got another $4 off $20 coupon after checking out....gotta love it.

Sale alert: American Chic studded "Y" satchel

Remember this YSL-inspired tote that I blogged about a while back in one of my "designer way vs cheapalicious way" posts?  Well, it's now on sale for a measly $20!  Head on over to American Chic while supplies last.

A special thanks to Tiffany for this sale alert!

Designer way vs. Cheapalicious way

Love the Christian Louboutin Barcelona wedge sandal, but not the $500 price tag?  JC Penney's a.n.a brand has an affordable version for only $45!  Yea, they're not an exact dupe of the Louboutins, but it's clear where it borrows its inspiration from.

I did see another affordable version of the Louboutin wedges at Old Navy.  They're not available on the website, but they were in my local store when I was in there last.  I believe they are $29.50, so if you're looking for a pair that looks more close to the Louboutins, then head over to Old Navy.

Nifty under $50: Spring is in the air at Old Navy

I love it when Old Navy's spring merchandise arrive in stores.  I always score such cute stuff.  For my upcoming spring shopping trip, I think I'm going to pick up a few of these fabulous pieces...

floral linen blend skirt $24.50; denim shirtdress $29.50. I've been looking for either a denim shirt or dress, and this shirtdress is perfect.  This would look so cute with a pair of white leggings and flat sandals; flower headband $6.50; twill romper $24.50.  Yep, rompers are back for this spring, and I'm definitely feeling this one.  It's simple, but the possibilities are endless as far as accessorizing.; plaid linen top $19.50; boyfriend cardigan vest $24.50

Check out these other spring arrivals from Old Navy...

Weekend Finds...JC Penney and Macys

Hello Cheapalicious Readers!!

This is Tira, and I've been away waaaaay too long. Work is (still) kicking my butt, I've been taking on more writing assignments, in addition to working on my own stories. But, my sister and her best friend came to visit me in Jersey from Ohio, so I took some time this weekend to get some shopping and fun in. Check out my purchases. . .

Anyone who is not hip to coupons yet, what the heck are you waiting for??? I saved really big this weekend at JC Penney, thanks to 2 coupons, plus the winter clearance sale. I went there a couple weeks ago for a birthday gift, and there was a survey at the end of the my receipt. Taking the survey gives you a 15% off coupon for your next purchase. In addition, I joined the FREE rewards program, and received a $10 off coupon, good for any purchase of $10 or more.

These boots were regular $120, and marked down to $9.97. The yummy purple sneakers were $4.97 (Not really sure of the original price).....after both purchases, my total came to a whopping $2.96. Even the saleslady looked twice, lol. That didn't do much for her commission, but it did wonders for my wallet.

Later on, in the same shopping trip I went to Macy's and they had an additional 30% off already marked-down clearance jewelery. I bought these 2 statement necklaces, they were both between $7-$9, from $30....I can't wait to wear them.

Product review: Kymaro Curve Control jeans and giveaway!

If you've ever been up around 3 AM watching infomercials on TV, then I'm sure you've heard of the body shaper, Kymaro. I've always wanted to try the Kymaro body shaper to smooth out my upper body, but I never got around to ordering one. They now have "curve control" jeans that are designed to make your butt, thighs, and stomach areas look slimmer. A rep for Kymaro jeans contacted me about reviewing a pair of the jeans. I really don't have a problem with my bottom half (I love my curves), but I decided to review them just to see if they at least slimmed my stomach down.

What I liked: They are very lightweight and comfortable! I like the bootcut leg opening and the medium dark wash color. The jeans that were sent to me are a size 9/10 (I normally wear an 11 or 13), and they fit great. The inseam is 33", which is perfect for me because I'm tall. They're supposed to make you look at least 10 lbs thinner, and they did "slim" me down just a little bit, but not by much.

My "before" pic. I'm wearing my favorite skinnies from Wet Seal. As you can see, I have a little gut going on (lol).

My "after" pics. Here, I'm wearing the Curve Control jeans. The jeans kinda slimmed my stomach just a tad, but it's not like I dropped a lot of inches from my waist. My thighs appeared a liitle bit slimmer, too, and the jeans kinda gave my butt a little lift.

What I don't like: The jeans remind me of "mom jeans" with the high waist and all. Thank goodness they don't have a tapered leg opening, or these would've gotten thrown into the "giveaway" box. That problem can easily be fixed by wearing a longer top, which I always do anyway. Other than the high waist, there's nothing else I dislike about the jeans. I would definitely wear them from time to time, especially on the days when I'm feeling a little bloated.

Kymaro Curve Control jeans come in sizes 5-26, and retail for $39.95. They can be purchased here.

Now for the giveaway!

I'm giving away a pair of Kymaro Curve Control jeans in a size 7/8 (33" inseam) to one lucky reader! You don't have to do anything special, just enter your name and email address here.

Weekend finds: A little President's Day shopping...

Okay, technically Monday isn't a weekend day, but I considered it my weekend day since I had to work Saturday.

I went out and did a little shopping over at the Gulf Coast Town Center this past Monday to see what President's Day sales were in store. I had a $10 off $20 coupon from Rue 21, so I decided to put it use. I don't shop there that often, but when I do, I always come out with some awesome stuf at awesome prices. I found some really cute jewelry and a couple pairs of sandals (not pictured), and everything came to a little under $30.

(l)- (r): cameo necklace $7.99. I wore this yesterday and got a lot of compliments; floral cuff $6.99; coin earrings $5.99

I received a $10 off $10 coupon from JC Penney in the mail, so I decided to take a look around to see what I could find. I found an awesome nautical inspired necklace, and guess what? I got it for free! Yes, free. How, you ask? Well, the price of the necklace is $20. Select MixIt brand jewelry is on sale for 50% off the original price. With $10 off coupon in hand, no money came out of my pocket. That's what I call a deal!

On my way home, I stopped to Walmart to pick up some groceries for dinner. Of course, I had to browse the clothing and accessories and I found a few things for under $5 each

  • Miley Cyrus sequined bow tank $3. I may wear this out Saturday night with some black skinny pants and a boyfriend blazer
  • charm bracelet $3
  • ring $4
  • earrings $3

tank $4

Topic Tuesday: How long could you go without buying new clothes?

How long could you go without buying new clothes?

A week?  A month?  A year?  For me, I think I could go a month or two without buying new clothes.  I've been doing pretty good by shopping my closet, so going on a little shopping diet for a month or two wouldn't hurt.  Let's see if I could push for a year (yeah right).

The Report Signature Dante sandal is to die for!  I just love the zipper ruffled detail.  But, if you can't see yourself paying almost $200 for them and you love the look, GoJane has a more affordable version for a little under $25.

Cheapalicious giveaway: Win a pair of foldable flats from Soleil Shoe Co.!

image via Soleil Shoe Co.

I was contacted by a rep working on behalf of Soleil Shoe Co. to review a pair of foldable flats.  I've already reviewed a pair for Footzyrolls, but I figured I'd give this company a try.  Hey, you can never have too many foldable flats, right?  They sent me a patent black pair (a more practical color than the metallic pink ones I've received from Footzyrolls), and I was excited because the majority of the shoes that I wear to work are black heels.  Then I saw the shoe size.  They sent me a size M, which is sizes 6.5- 7.5, and I just realized that I've forgot to give the rep my shoe size before she sent them to me (I wear a size 9).  Oops! Obviously, I can't do anything with them, so I'm offering to give them away to one of you lucky readers!  My loss is your gain.
Besides the flats, you will also get a nylon tote bag to stash your heels in when they start to get uncomfortable.
The flats come in patent black, white, metallic pink, and silver (what, no gold?), and are $24.95 a pair.  Right now, save 25% off any pair of the flats by entering coupon code "flats" at the checkout.  The offer is good until tomorrow (2/14).

Rules for giveaway (please read carefully):
  •  Enter here for the giveaway.  One (1) lucky reader will win a pair of foldable ballet flats from Soleil Shoe Co. in patent black, size M (6.5-7.5).  Winner will be chosen randomly
  • US and Canada residents 18 years and older only
  • Giveaway ends on 2-19-10 at 11:59 PM ESTWinner will be notified and announced on 2-20-10.  Winner has 48 hours from time of notification to reply back with full name and mailing address.  Failure to do so will result in the prize being forfeited and an alternate winner will be chosen.

Weekend finds: Three pairs of shoes for under $15!

Work has been kicking my butt since the start of the new month.  I haven't had time to do anything.  I would just  leave work, get home, and either go straight to bed, or read a book.  I did find time to do a little shopping this past weekend, though.  I stopped by Target because I haven't been in there in a while and went to straight to the clearance racks.  I didn't find any clothes, but I did find a few pairs of shoes, and all three pairs only cost me a little under $15.  Here's what I got:

I've been wanting a pair of cobalt blue flats for a while.  I was a little hesitant at first of buying these because I'm not too fond of pointy toe shoes, but once I tried them on, they didn't look so pointy- they're actually really cute on my feet.  They were only $4.24.  Score!

I was looking for the tan pair of these boots, but my local store was sold out.  Oh well, I wanted another pair of black boots anyway, and I love the slight slouchy look of these over jeans.  These babies only set me back a nice $7.48!

I scored these flat tie up sandals for $2.98!  I didn't realize that one of the laces were missing until I got home, and of course, this was the last pair.  The next day, I went to the fabric store to see if I could find the same exact tie, but no luck.  I tried to get creative and use gold cord (as you can see in the pic), but I don't know if I want to use them as laces for these sandals.  Any ideas of what else I could use or where I could get metallic gold vinyl(?) cord?  I know for sure I'm going to wear these a lot for this spring and summer. Can't wait!
