Win This Wednesday: Win a $25 Marshalls gift card!

The great folks from Marshalls recently sent me a $25 gift card to assist me with a little bit of summer shopping at my neighborhood Marshalls store. Since I had the day off Monday, I decided to check out what new merchandise was in. My local store didn't have a whole lot of summer merchandise in yet, just the usual stuff like maxi dresses (which I'm kinda sorta over right now), and a lot of cute swimwear for less than $50. Hopefully, in the coming weeks, there will be a lot more merchandise to choose from.

Cynthia Rowley silk dress marked down to $32. I was hoping this dress would fit me, but it didn't. I think a size 12 would've been better, but of course, it was the only one on the clearance rack. Great price, nonetheless.

Max Studio chambray dress- very pretty with the crochet detail at the hem and such a great deal at $39.99. This dress didn't fit either (darn). That's too bad. It would've been perfect for the barbeque.

I also tried on this dress (or is it a tunic?), and if they had a larger size, I would've bought it and paired it with a pair of leggings since it was too short on me. I was also in search of lighter pieces to wear to work, and I found this striped tie front cardigan for $14.99. Again, if this were a bigger size, I would've bought it. Does anyone not carry size XL anymore?

Floral tank $12.99

After having no luck in the fitting room, I ventured over to the Shoe MegaShop. I ended up purchasing a pair of embellished sandals for $19.99.

Thanks to the wonderful Recessionista of Nouveau Cheap, and her wonderful reader, Lexi, I discovered that there will be a special Walgreens circular in tomorrow's newspaper that will have a coupon for $0.99 Sinful Colors nail polish. Yay! I think Sinful Colors is one of the best drugstore nail polish brands out right now, it's super cheap ($1.99 for a bottle) and come in a lot of fun colors. I believe the coupon will also be available to print on Walgreens' site, so you can get it from there if you don't have access to a newspaper. Coupon is good until 7/3/10.

Speaking of Maurices, I was given the opportunity to do a little shopping of my own. If you recall in this post, I had a few things on my little wish list. I ended up getting the button down floral shirt, and a pair of distressed denim shorts.

button front tie belt floral shirt $24. I love the bold floral print of this top, and it's a great addition to my work wardrobe. I plan on wearing this with a pair of khaki dress pants or pencil skirt during the week, or with a pair of trouser jeans for casual Friday.

5 pocket roll bottom denim shorts $28. I needed a new pair of denim shorts, because right now, I only own one pair that I got from Old Navy a few years ago. This pair is so comfy, and they are very true to size. The slight distressing adds a nice touch.

Norma Kamali Eagle Eye Tank: So Creepy It's Cute

Norma Kamali - Women's Organic Cotton Eagle Racerback Tank, $8 Walmart.com

On an impromptu trip to Wal-Mart this afternoon, I was captivated by this shirt. It's so striking, I couldn't figure out whether I loved it or feared it. It was the very last one, so for $8 I brought it home to debate over. The eyes are really creepy, but I'm still digging it. I'm thinking this might be a cool way to show American pride on the 4th of July, since red, white, and blue will be the norm. Are you feeling it?

Sidenote: The Norma Kamali collection is FABULOUS. The clothes are constructed with care, and are comparable to her higher end line.

Product Review: ANEW CLINICAL Luminosity Pro Brightening Serum

Price: $54
What it claims: When skin looks brighter, it looks younger! Formulated to treat tell-all signs of aging like uneven skin tone, dullness and discolorations, this topical serum harnesses the power of injectable-grade L-Aspartic Acid to help deliver effective brightening results at home. In just three days, this breakthrough formula helps to diminish the appearance of dark spots, exfoliate dead surface cells and show off your new brightened complexion.

Summertime is here, ladies! What’s the best way to show off fabulous clothes and terrific hair? Gorgeous skin of course! For my cheapalicious readers, a dermatologist’s laser may not be in the budget, but Avon has you covered with their FIRST topical serum made with L-Aspartic Acid, an injectable-grade skin brightener. I just finished trying the product for two weeks, check out my thoughts. . .

For all of the care I put into my face, I’ve noticed some dullness. I thought maybe it was because I had been using the same products for a long time, so I was very willing to switch up my routine. For 2 weeks, I ditched my moisturizer and toner, and relied solely on my facial wash and the ANEW CLINICAL Luminosity Pro Brightening Serum. After washing my face, I used a cotton ball to apply the serum over my neck and face. A little bit of this product goes a long way. The consistency is similar to baby oil gel, it’s thick but light. It will make your face very shiny and greasy at first, so be sure to follow the directions and apply only at night. I made sure to use it a couple hours before bed, so as not to leave any stains on my pillow. When I woke up in the morning, most of the shine was gone, and I didn’t have to use a moisturizer throughout the day, especially around my eyes and nose where I usually need it the most. Over time, I noticed my skin was brighter and more even. A woman stopped me in the mall and told me I had a beautiful complexion.

Overall, I really enjoyed the results of this product. I received a lot of compliments on my skin during the two weeks I used it. A few of my coworkers claimed I was glowing, and asked if I was pregnant. At first use, I did experience the “tingling” (more like burning) that the directions warn about, but it gradually subsided to a slight warming sensation as my skin accommodated itself to the product. The main change I noticed was in the texture of my skin. It was definitely smoother. I will definitely be adding this product to my routine.

Product Review: Caress Whipped Souffle Ultra Silkening Body Wash in Blackberry Cream

Here’s a secret about me-  I am a body wash freak. If you peeked into my shower right now, you would see 5 different body washes. And 3 of those 5 are from Caress. Their body washes never let me down when it comes to offering a luxurious moisturizing shower experience. From the Evenly Gorgeous to Daily Silk, Caress is doing great things with their body washes. Here’s my review on their latest creation, Whipped SoufflĂ© Ultra Silkening Body Wash.

First things first . . . the smell of the Blackberry Cream scent is divine. It's one of those scents that makes you want to eat the product. It’s fruity without being overpowering and tends to linger for a few hours after a shower. The thick, consistency of the body wash will remind you of your favorite, creamy pudding, which is always a good thing, in my opinion. Check out the pics:
:

Yes, I put it on my favorite plate because it is just that creamy and yummy-looking. A body wash isn’t worth the money if it’s watery and doesn’t moisturize well. The easy to hold on to shape of the bottle is another bonus. Non-lingering scent aside, Caress Whipped SoufflĂ© does a great job of cleaning and leaving the skin feeling soft smooth to the touch. It's an ideal body wash for anyone with dry skin, I didn't even need lotion after my shower! This body wash did exactly what I needed it to do and priced around $4, it's a cheapalicious steal. It also comes in White Peach Cream (yum!), which I cannot wait to try.

Check out Caress' newly launched Facebook page, for exciting news on all things Caress, and Dance With Caress, where award winning country singer and dancer, Julianne Hough, shows women how to flaunt sexy skin on the dance floor, share beauty secrets to get gorgeous, as well as dance tips.

Star style: Carrie's (Sarah Jessica Parker) four leaf clover necklace

I've been lusting after Carrie's (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) four leaf clover necklace ever since I saw pics of the new Sex and the City 2 movie floating around the 'net.  I know that bad boy probably cost an arm and a leg like every other  article of clothing in that movie, but hope is not lost.  Patricia Field designed a clover necklace for Payless and it's only $13!

pic via Payless

The bad news is it's sold out online, but if you call your local store, maybe they will have it in stock.  I called four different stores in my area, and noone had a clue as to what a four leaf clover was.  Wow.  I called a fifth store (that's on my way home from work, thank goodness), and they have plenty of them in stock.  Looks like I'll be making a trip to Payless tomorrow, with my 15% off coupon in hand, of course.

***Update***  I went into Payless this afternoon to see this necklace in person, and it's really small.  That kind of turned me off from buying it because I thought it would at least be the size of the necklace that Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the movie.  Oh well.  If you're into small little charms, then this pendant is for you, but I like my jewelry big and bold (lol).

Nifty under $50: Embellished sandals

What's my shoe obsession of the moment?  Embellished flat sandals!  I must've bought about five pairs within the last month.  Hey, I need some variety in my shoe closet right about now (lol).  They add instant glam to a simple tank and shorts combo, or a solid color maxi dress.  Add some glitz to your summer shoe wardrobe with these picks I've found for under $50.

L.E.I "Rich Tunis" embellished sandals $20, Walmart.  I ordered these for myself, and I love them!  The beading is very pretty in person.; mixed bead sandal $25.50, Charlotte Russe;  embellished leather t-strap sandals $19.50, Old Navy;  Mossimo "Pascale" ankle strap sandals $26.99, Target;  jeweled sandal $15, Newport News; Nickolls beaded sandal $39.98, Aldo

Weekend finds: A day in Orlando

The hubby and I decided to take a little road trip to Orlando this past Saturday.  The original plan was to go to Sea World, but due to this sweltering heat, I was not up for walking around and sweating (lol).  Maybe next time when it's a little bit cooler.  We ended up having lunch and doing a little shopping instead.
I stopped to one of my favorite shoe stores in Orlando- a cheapalista's shoe paradise, Shoe Land!  I ended up buying a pair of Steve Madden "Sanzo" inspired sandals for $19.99, and a pair of medallion gladiator sandals for $16.99.

Of course, I had to stop in Dots to see what new goodies that they had in.  There were tons of maxi dresses  and all of them were either strapless or had spaghetti straps.  Total no no's for me.  I did, however, find two cute dresses on the clearance rack.

black & white dress $9.  I'm going to belt it to give it some shape.  I adore the print and it's very comfortable.;  floral shirtdress/tunic $7.  I may wear this with a pair of leggings because it's too short to wear as a dress.

I also found some cute jewelry.  Is it me or has the price on Dots' jewelry gone up a bit?  I remember when their necklaces used to be $5, but now they're like $8-$10.  I still love the selection, though.  Such fab accessories!

chunky coin necklace $8; earrings $5 and hair clips $3; chunky disc necklace $8
