Vaseline petroleum jelly has always been a staple in my family's household. My mom and grandmother used it for everything- quieting squeaky door hinges, rubbing it on the threads of light bulbs for easy removal, etc. Whatever they could use Vaseline for, they used it. They got many uses out of that small jar. Well, now it's a staple in my household. Besides using it around the house, it's also a tool in my beauty arsenal. Here are a few of my beauty uses for Vaseline petroleum jelly:
Protects skin when coloring hair. Apply around your hairline to make sure dye doesn't absorb into skin.
Moisturize chapped lips. Instead of buying lip balm, I carry a tube of this in my purse.
Tame unruly eyebrows
Soften your feet. Slather on Vaseline before bedtime and put on socks. Feet will be oh so soft and smooth by morning.
Use as sheer, shiny lip gloss
Apply to cheeks for a dewy glow. This tip is actually from one of my friends. I'm afraid to try it because of my oily skin.
Use to soften cuticles
Remove false eyelash glue from lash line
Speaking of this multi tasking product, do you know that Vaseline petroleum jelly been around for 140 years? To celebrate its 140th anniversary, Vaseline has redesigned its container by adding a flip cap top.
Also, on Vaseline's Facebook page, they're running a contest for a chance to win a limited edition Swarovski crystal encrusted Vaseline jar, plus a $500 gift card! Show off your creative uses for Vaseline and you may be a winner!
Is Vaseline petroleum jelly a staple in your household? What do you think of the new flip cap packaging?

By now, I'm sure you've been hearing about and have seen the lookbook for the new Lanvin for H&M collection. Well, the wait is over and the collection hits select H&M stores tomorrow (11/20). Prices range from $9.95 for a lipstick to $349 for a coat. The dresses that are in the collection are very beautiful, but I can't see myself paying $150 to $250 for one. Besides, the nearest store is two hours away from me anyway, so I definitely won't be making a trip anytime time soon to view the collection.
Are you hitting up H&M tomorrow to view the Lanvin collection? Do you plan on buying anything from the collection?

The William Rast for Target collection will be available in-stores and online beginning December 19th, and People StyleWatch gives us a taste of what's in store. I'm loving the grey twill vest and the embellished pencil skirt. Those are the pieces that I would most likely buy. The rest of it looks similar to pieces that I already own, but then again, I don't think this is the full collection. Hopefully, there will be more photos revealed because I can't wait to see the rest of the line!
Earlier this summer, I did a post on where you could find a look-a-like four leaf clover necklace like the one Sarah Jessica Parker wore in Sex and the City 2. Patricia Fields designed one for Payless, but they have since sold out. Still want to get your hands on one? Forever 21 has this little gem for only $4.80!
Glee star, Jayma Mays, attended a Hot List Party in Hollywood donning a metallic mini (I think it's sequined?), heels, and toned down the look with a denim shirt. Make the look your own with the affordable pieces below.
Free pair of glasses from Coastal Contacts (first 10,000 via Facebook, 11/12 only!). "Like" Coastal Contacts on Facebook and get a free code. On Friday 11/12 at 12:01 PM EST, use the the free code to get your glasses.
These fab platform loafers would be a great addition to my fall wardrobe. There's two things stopping me from purchasing them- they're too high (5" inch heel, ouch), and my size is unavailable. There's only a size 8 available in this color, but the light grey is available in sizes 6, 7, 8, and 10 (at time of me writing this post). Snag yourself a pair!
When we think of the uses for baking soda, we think of keeping our refrigerator fresh with it, whitening our teeth, and some of us even use it as a household cleaner. But have you ever used it as an exfoliator for your skin? Me either- at least not until last week. I've heard a few people sing praises on how well baking soda is as a gentle exfoliator, but I never gotten around to trying it myself. I ran out of my current facial scrub, and was in serious need of some exfoliation, so I turned to my pantry and pulled out my trusty box of baking soda. The results? Not bad. My face feels so smooth and soft afterwards, and when mixed with my skin cleanser, for some reason it gave the cleanser an extra "boost". My skin felt extra clean and the baking soda scrub didn't irritate it.
Mix a little of baking soda and a little bit of water into a paste (I used my facial cleanser instead of water. As you can see, the consistency in my pic isn't "paste like". I was rushing to take the pic, but you get the idea, lol) and cleanse away!
I have oily skin, so this worked pretty good for me with no problems. Like I said before, it didn't irritate my skin and it didn't overly dry it out. I'm not sure how it reacts with other skin types, so try at your own risk. For more info and further detail about using baking soda as an exfoliator, read this post over at The Beauty Brains.
Have you tried baking soda as an exfoliator? Thoughts?
