Topic Tuesday: Do you get the "side eye" when couponing?

Picture this.  You make a shopping trip to one of your favorite stores.  With coupons in hand, you're excited about saving some serious cash with all the cool promotions going on.  You get to the register and ring your stuff up and hand the coupons to the cashier.  While your total is dwindling down because of the coupon savings, you hear the constant groans and getting the "side eye"  from fellow shoppers and/or the cashier. This is what happened to me when I went to CVS and did my mini makeup haul a few months ago and this is not the first time.  It baffles me because I didn't have that many coupons, and my transaction was done in less than five minutes, so why be annoyed?  Did I missing something?

I've said it once, and I'll say it again- I never leave the house without a coupon.  I don't see anything wrong with saving a buck or a few. Now, I'm not one of those people on that Extreme Couponing show, but if I can maximize my savings, I do.  Why the annoyed looks?  I don't get it.

Do you get the "side eye" when couponing, or are you the person giving the "side eye" to your fellow shopper?  Speak on it.

I think I do get the side eye when I bring coupons. I LOVVEEEE coupons and get excited when I know I'm about to get a good deal. I think people are staring at my transaction and I get all paranoid, but I remind myself that this is MY money and not thiers. If they want to pay full price, go right ahead.

I don't often see people getting the side-eye for couponing around here from other customers (digging endlessly for purse change is another story, though.) Sometimes the cashiers definitely give it, though I kind of understand it from them.

The last time I was behind someone with a bunch of coupons was in the grocery store. All I did was jealously say to my boyfriend, "THEY remembered their coupons!"

Yes!! It is soooo annoying. My local grocery story does double coupons daily though they only advertise it on Weds. So I go whenever, and present a whole bunch of coupons. After watching Extreme Couponing, I started to buy my coupons from a clipping service. I spent maybe $3 but I saved well over $30. Pretty worth it in my opinion. People always stare and get mad at me but hey, it doesnt matter. Same thing happened at CVS, it took all over 45 seconds to ring me up and send me on my way.

Yes, people do have a tendency to stare at you when you use coupons. I just don't get it! To me, it's the same thing as buying something on sale.
