Nifty under $50: High heeled loafers

What's on my fall shoe radar?  A pair of high heeled loafers, of course! They're the perfect balance of masculine and femine style. I owned a pair a very long time ago (thirteen years ago to be exact), and I wished I never gotten rid of them.  They were so awesome! I wore those suckers everywhere and with mostly everything.  They would've been so on trend today if I would've kept them, but now that I think of it, that heel was about five inches!  I surely wouldn't be able to walk in them now.  So, yeah, time for me to do a little shopping to gear up for this coming fall.  Here are five pairs I've found for under $50.

Envy penny pump $41.25, Endless.com.  How unexpected is this color for a high heeled loafer?  Blue is going to be big for fall. ;  Deperro loafer pump $44.98 (clearance), Aldo;  suede penny loafer pump $27.30, Go Jane;  Bamboo "Leighton" penny loafer heels $32, Lulus;  LC Lauren Conrad platform penny loafer heels $48.99 (on sale, reg. $64.99), Kohls

Cheapalicious DIY: Basketball Wives- inspired hoop earrings

I decided to make a pair of earrings inspired by the hoops that the ladies of VH1's Basketball Wives wear.  Their earrings can be found at online boutique, Poparazzi, but they're currently out of stock.  Not to mention that those babies are $55, and I don't want to put that kind of a dent in my wallet (at least, not for a pair of earrings).  Here's my very easy DIY version of them.

Materials used:
  • hoop earrings:  Again, I went to Citi Trends and purchased this three-pack for only $2.49, but you can use any gold hoops that you have laying around.  Whatever size you like is totally up to you, but I prefer huge hoops.  The bigger, the better.
  • rhinestone encrusted spacers/beads (not sure what the exact name of these are):  I purchased mine from Ebay seller, Good Buy Bead.  For $10.99, I got 100 spacers, but I'm sure you can find these from any craft store.  I used a 10mm spacer, and if I would've gotten a smaller size, they wouldn't have fit through my earring.

closeup of  spacer/bead

I used about twenty spacers on each hoop, but I think I'm going to add more.  What do you think?

***update***  I've added about ten more spacers to each hoop (for a total of 60 spacers).  Here's the result:

Where did you get that?: Shenae Grimes' Susie Rose maxi skirt

90210's Shenae Grimes looked cute and boho chic while grabbing a bite to eat in West Hollywood yesterday.  Who would've thought that's a $12 Susie Rose skirt from Walmart she's wearing?  Perfect piece for summer!

Nifty under $50: Are you feelin' Brash?

Just in time for back to school, Payless has launched their edgy new line for girls and teens called Brash, that includes shoes, accessories, and makeup.  Prices range from $2.99 (for nail polish), to $49.99 (for boots).  I've only seen the jewelry so far at my local store, but I haven't seen the shoes or the handbags yet. Although this line is geared towards the teens and some of this stuff is a bit "young" for me, there are a few items that I'm diggin'.  Check em' out!

"Katy" leopard print bow wedge $29.99.  Such a fun shoe; fly rhinestone ring $9.99.  Although I despise flies, I find this ring kinda  fly (okay, that was corny, hee hee).  Another statement ring to add to my collection!; "Teagan" moto boot $49.99;   layered stone ring $9.99; "Livie" crossbody bag $22.99.  I love the color of this bag!

**Deal Alert**  Text BRASH to 747474 to get 20% off your entire purchase.  You can always text STOP to cancel text alerts from Payless.

Have you seen Brash at your Payless?

75% off clearance shoe haul @ Target

This afternoon, I decided to pop into my local Target to grab a few much needed items and to see if they had any of the spring and summer sandals on clearance.  My blogger buds, Cadrommy (My Dress Ways) and Tiffany (Fashion Court) have tweeted that they've found shoes as low as $6, so I had to take a browse.  So many cute shoes were marked down from $6.24- $7.48, and I wish I could've bought them all, but I controlled myself and only walked away with two pairs.  Here's what I found.

Mossimo "Vivien" sandal $6.24.  I'm so happy that I found these!  I've been looking for a pair of taupe heels- that i actually like- for the longest.

"Tavia" crochet sandal $6.24.  I actually scored these for $3.24, because I had a $3 off Xhiliration item coupon (unfortunately, it's not available on the site anymore).  These sandals remind me of the Elizabeth and James "Gypsy" sandal, but so much cheaper, of course.

A lot of the Dolce Vita for Target wedge sandals were marked down as low as $7.48, so if you still want a pair, you better check and see if they're at your local store.

Did you score any spring/summer clearance sandals from Target?

Cheapalicious DIY: Tribal bead hoop earrings

When it comes to my stash of earrings, just like my rings-, I like them big and bold!  I wanted something different to add to my collection, so I decided to try a little DIY this weekend. With a pair of hoop earrings and some tribal-esque beads, here's what I came up with.

Materials used:
  • hoop earrings.  I just grabbed a three-pair pack of hoop earrings from Citi Trends for $2.99, but usually, I would use an old pair that I have laying around.
  • crafting beads $3.49 each, Michaels.  I had a 20% off coupon when I bought the beads, so they were a little under $6

My next earring DIY will probably be a pair inspired by the earrings worn by the "Basketball Wives". Stay tuned...
