Designer Way vs. Cheapalicious Way

The Giuseppe Zanotti colorblock platform sandal retails for $695 at Bergdorf Goodman.  They've been spotted on the feet of Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry- two celebs with bold and zany styles, so it's not a surprise that these are a fave among them.  Do you share Nicki's and Katy's bold style as well, but hate the budget busting price of the Giuseppe Zanotti's?  Urban OG has a cheapalicious alternative (different color scheme) for only $38.20.

$50 a month Shopping Budget Challege Update: I totally blew my budget....

You all are probably wondering how my $50 a month spending challenge is going.  Let's just say, it's not going so well.  I completely overspent for February and March, and I'm way over budget for this current month.  Right now, I'm going to suspend the challenge until I can get focused and shake my "I see, I like, I buy" habit. Since I bought way too much (accessories here, thrift store finds there, more clothes for work), I'm just going to show just a few of my purchases.  Check them out.

earrings $3.99 each, Burlington Coat Factory.  I love funky, statement making earrings, and as of late, Burlington Coat Factory seemed to be my destination of choice for cool jewelry.

"Sarah" striped wedge, Payless:  When I bought these they were on sale for $19.99, and then I had a 20% off coupon, so they ended up being $16.99.

Mossimo floral top $22.99, Target

striped skirt $11.99 (on clearance), Old Navy:  I was so happy when this skirt went on clearance.  I love the colors!

dress $12 (on clearance), Dots.  Love the print of this dress. So fun!

cropped Aztec print blazer $14.80, Dots

striped blazer $32.99, Charlotte Russe:  This is very lightweight material, doesn't feel like a blazer at all.  More like a light sweater, but I still love it.  Love the pop of cobalt also.

printed top $8.99 (on clearance, now $9.99 online), Old Navy

nude platforms and foldover wedge booties $8.98 each, Target: I guess I will stash the booties away for next fall/winter.  It's absolutely too hot to wear them now.  Good deal nonetheless.

Mossimo colored denim, Target:  I got these at different times- the yellow pair was $22.99 (regular price), the green pair was on sale for $19.99 at one point, and the coral pair I caught on clearance for $6.88. I had to up two sizes in these jeans ( I wear a 13 in juniors', I had to buy a 17), so they are cut small.  I'm all set on the colored denim trend for this season.

For those of you doing the challenge, did any of you go over budget?

Fab Find: Aztec print clutch

Can you tell I've been obsessed with clutches lately?

I've been on the hunt for a bright, aztec print clutch ever since one of my beloved Twitter followers uploaded a pic of her carrying one.  All the beautiful colors would go nicely with my current spring wardrobe, and it would give life to the most basic maxi dress I own. Well, my search is over!  I found this darling baby at deb shops! And it's under $20!  Sweet!

Lunchbreak Shopping: A trip to Super Thrift before it closes....

I'm saddened that one of my fave thrift stores, Super Thrift, is closing its doors at the end of the month. In a way, I'm not surprised because the spot that it's housed in is a pain in the butt to get to, and I can see why some people would totally bypass it.  Just about every business that's been in that plaza did not last long, and sadly, Super Thrift bit the dust too.  Hopefully, they will open in another location so I can continue to shop there.  Since they're closing, all clothing is $0.99!  Since my break is only an hour, I didn't have that much time to fully browse every rack.  I only grabbed a few pieces (mostly skirts) that caught my eye.  Since they don't have fitting rooms, I had to eyeball the size and hope that they fit.  I'll make alterations later if needed.  Here's what I scored for a little over $6!

This top is a bit baggy, but I'll belt it to give it some shape

I love the print of this pleated skirt, and I was excited when I saw that it was a size 12.  However, when I finally got home to try it on, it would not go over my hips (insert major *side eye*).  I was really hoping this skirt would fit, but oh well.  In the giveaway pile it goes.....

Florals are big this season and I really thought I'd hit the jackpot when I found this skirt.  I couldn't even button this sucker up and it says that it's a size 15/16 (insert another *side eye*).  Women back in the days must've had non-existent waists, because there's no way in HELL that this could be a size 15/16.  To the giveaway pile this goes......

My search for a plaid midi skirt is over.  I've been searching for one ever since I saw Curves and Confidence re-create Amber Rose's outfit- perfect for the office!

Finally found a red pencil skirt.  Yay!  I also bought a black pencil skirt, but it didn't photograph well.

Fab Find: Attention tunnel belt dress @ Kmart

Kmart has definitely stepped it up in the fashion department.  Years ago I despised shopping in this store, now it's one of my go to places.  Who would've thought?  Anywho, as I browsed one of my fave blogs, The Fashion Bomb, I've noticed that LaLa Anthony was spotted wearing the geometric print Attention tunnel belt dress.

Could she be a fellow cheapalista too?  I think it looks great on her (minus the heels, but that's my opinion), and what a steal at only $17.49!
