Beauty Box Five

Nowadays, there seems to be a new beauty product sampling program popping up.  If you're not familiar with beauty product sampling programs, they're basically monthly services that contain makeup, skincare, or hair care sample sized products to try out. Most companies have you fill out a profile form when you sign up so they can send products catering to your skin type, hair type, etc. Some programs even have full size products in their boxes sometimes.  Companies such as Birchbox and Glossybox are a couple of popular programs just to name a few.

I was recently contacted by new-to-me company, Beauty Box 5, to review one of their boxes.  For $12 per month ($30 quarterly; $100 yearly)  you get 4-5 product samples, and if you refer five friends to sign up for BB5, you get one month free.  Product brands include Freeman, Becca, and Weleda, just to name a few.  Here's what I received in my box.

Card with a list of products and the price for a full size of the product

The products come in a pretty little mesh bag

  • Comodynes Easy Peeling towelette (sample)
  • Blum Naturals Oil Absorbing facial tissues (full size)
  • blinc eyeliner (sample)
  • Everyday Minerals blush in Girl Friday (sample):
  • The All Natural Face vegan eyeshadow in Warm  Honey (sample)
Everyday Minerals blush in Girl Friday

The All Natural Face mineral eyeshadow in Warm Honey

Overall, I'm pleased with the items I received in this box (I'm seriously considering buying the Comodynes Easy Peeling towelettes). But, just like any other beauty product sampling program, you'll never know what you'll get in your box each month, and you may or may not like everything. That may be something to consider before joining a beauty subscription program if that's a concern for you.  For more info about Beauty Box Five, click here.

Designer Way vs. Cheapalicious Way

Is it me or is the "Alex" espadrille from Stuart Weitzman the perfect spring/ summer shoe? Although they're now $255 down from the original price of $365, they are still a major budget buster (to me, at least).  Wanna rock the look until you have enough funds to invest in a pair of the Alex espadrilles?  Deb has a cheapalicious version- in a fruity hue that's perfect for summer- for only $30.50!

Designer Way vs. Cheapalicious Way

Oh, how I love the Christian Louboutin neon "Pigalle" pump!  If they were still available and a few hundred dollars cheaper, I would totally buy a pair.  Neons are hot this year and I think they would fit nicely into my wardrobe.  I'll be checking out the Mossimo "Vivian" neon pump as soon as they're available in stores.  At only $29.99, when the neon trend fades, at least I'll know I didn't pay that much for them (lol).  Which would you rather have- the splurge or the steal?
